IES Calgary: TM-30: Delivering More Predictable Results in Color Quality

Date Wed May 15 2024 - 11:30 am - 1:30 pm Calendar Alberta

Presented by Michael Husiak, Cree Lighting, and Jess McNabb, Optics Lighting & Controls

Description:

CRI (Color Rendering Index) has been the default metric used by the lighting industry to predict color quality outcomes for nearly 50 years.

Despite known shortcomings, it has remained relatively unchanged throughout most of its existence.

Today, concerns that this outdated metric can no longer reliably predict results that match our visual assessment has brought renewed interest in seeking a better way to evaluate light source color rendition.

In this course we’ll explore TM-30, the method for evaluating light source color rendition developed by the IES, as an improved alternative to CRI.

Vibia Product Showcase - Array/Knit

Date Wed May 22 2024 - 10:00 am - 10:30 am Calendar Alberta

Presented by Vibia Lighting

Description:

Join us for an overview on Vibia Lighting's newest additions: Knit & Array.

Knit reimagines the traditional lampshade, transforming it into a contemporary look. Light seeps through the fabric outwards and downwards through a translucent diffuser, bathing the surrounding space in an intimate glow. The distinctive geometry and meticulous craftsmanship of each silhouette are complemented by a seamless transition between fabric, diffuser, and aluminum ring casing.

Array is an exploration of thread and its potential to create lightweight and dynamic sculptures of light. Composed of an array of fine threads pulled taut between two rings, the collection presents a variety.
